Dr. Zaigham Abbas is currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Hepato-Gastroenterology and Director Liver Transplantaion Services at the Dr.Ziauddin University Hospital, Clifton Karachi. 

He is the Past President of Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases (PSSLD, member and ex-Dean of the Faculty of Gastroenterology in the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, and Past-Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology for Pakistan. 

He is a member of the Guidelines Committees and Hepatology Interest Group of the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO). He is Associate Editor of Hepatology International, the official journal of APASL.  

He is a founding member of the Executive Committee, South Asian Association for the Study of the Liver (SAASL). He is a member of the Academic Board, The Kidney Centre Postgraduate Training Institute and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Aga Khan University. 

He is an ex-member of the Executive Committee of APASL and ex-Vice President of the Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology. He has represented Pakistan in many international meetings as a faculty member. 

He is currently doing collaborative work with the Hepatitis Delta International Network and APASL ACLF Research Consortium. He has more than 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals to his credit.
